Monocle and Mustache Owl

I was contacted to do a Fashion Show and Silent Auction fund raiser for the local Salvation Army.  I will post a picture show of that when it's over.  But I thought that I might share the Owl bag that I did for the silent auction.

This is what it looked like before I finished it, I added a pocket on the inside and cleaned up the lines.  The pocket was made from the same as the face fabric, it had a mustache out of the dotted material that makes up the bow tie.

Here is what I started with, most items are scraps.
A canvas bag that has a printed logo, a piece of black crushed velvet, a sample of upholstery fabric, polka dotted fat quarter, brown fleece, and a fuzzy yellow.  Plus some buttons from the stash.

You can see that I kinda already have starting drawing out the owl that I want.

Once I have the idea, I have to make a pattern for the face and the hat.

Then I cut out of the fabric and place it on the bag to make sure that it covers the printed logo, that I like the combo of the fabrics. I also made the bow tie.
So far so good. Now for the eyes.  As you will learn I have a TON of buttons.  some times it takes me an hour just to find the perfect buttons.
This was the second jar of                      browns, but I found them.

So there you have it!
" I mustache you a question, but I'll shave it for later!"

Thanks for the ♥!

This one I just finished.  There is a great piece in the upper right corner, it was drawn by this artist.  http://creepybluestorm.deviantart.com/art/Steampunk-Concept-Art-No-1-116499626.  This makes # 4 in the series of 6.

It was a long day, so I hope to get some bobbin posts up soon.

Another postcard....

Just dropping in to share this one, not sure that I'm completely happy with it.  It started with the idea of a Bride and her Father walking down to meet her groom.  Again, thanks to the web for most of the images.

Enjoy~

Saving the date.....

I got too tired to write any more and then I got busy.  But I'm back for now.  I have been working on a few posts for the blog. but am not ready to get them up.  I just finished the first 2 post cards that I am making as Save the Date cards.  I will me doing most of the work for the wedding, from the dress to the invites and everything in between. I will share all my ideas as I go. and try to give credit where it is do.

I used my Print Artist program to make the background. the I started layering pictures that I found at http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com .  I had to do a lot of edge cutting so that you could see the background through.  They have some great graphics, I will be using them in other post cards.
Now that mustaches are all the rage, and being a bit steampunkish, I have to do this on, monocle and all.  I have to thank a friends daughter Brizzy, for always saying this. "I mustache u a question...but I'll shave it for later."  So be sure to Shave the Date.
Most of the images were in the Print Artist, I did get the eye and the double blade razor for the net.  The razor is from an old Gillette advertisement.

Off to get 2 more done before bed.  Busy day with a family reunion and a Birthday bash!

Working Me

I work all the time, usually at home. Either at my sewing machine, or in the kitchen.  I am the maker of one of a kind Lush bags.  I also make recycled skirts from vintage bed linens.  I am making more clothes that I ever thought I might.   I'm making everything from free form skirts to patterned  Civil War reenactor camp dresses.  I'm getting ready to take on my wedding dress, that will have a steampunk feel to it.  I sew on the same machine that my Da bought his mother when he got out of the Navy in '68. It's a Kenmore, that had all the bells and whistles back in the day.  I also have a serger that was gifted to me from a dear friend.

I have a 111 yr old house, that is always needing something, usually paint!  I have painted all 11 rooms at least once, some rooms have been pained 3 or more times.  We are currently ripping up the nasty floor in the den. We re-carpeted it once, but seeing that we have a few cats, it had to pulled completely up. Now what to do with it.

I'm getting ready to take the plunge, walking down the aisle on the arm of my Da.  While I have been married to Nate for 14 years, we went to lunch one day and were married by 5.  So we are planning a Steampunk circus wedding.  With my Da as the Ring Leader and hopefully a stilt walker and a fire eater.

I'll keep blogging on, letting more of me out and showing you the next year of my life unfold.

Good night
